Look, I love sharing here on DA, I truly do, but what bothers me is when people download my stock over and over and I never see a  or a comment. Perhaps I have different manners, I mean if I'm going to download your stock, I almost always  in a special folder so I know where to go to credit it when I do create something. I love seeing what people create with my images and I love showing my models whats created. One of my images was downloaded 375 times.... no comment and barely any  .  I won't stop sharing cause I enjoy it, but I wish people would be more courteous. Anyways I guess thats the end of my rant.

So I haven't really been on top of my merfolk art and this past week decided that I would only create mermaid art. I was really happy with the results. I went out of my comfort box and created some darker pieces.

Catch of the Day-  I imagine that if there are mermaids out there, humans wouldn't be too kind. I mean in our twisted world everything has a price. Im not a meat eater or fish eater mainly because I think its awful but I try not to judge those who do. With this piece I kind of wanted to express that meaning. Most people don't really think about where their dead food comes from. What if your food looked more like us, would it matter then?
The model is from dreamstime. They had a special this week, so I kind of stocked up on some mermaid shots. The fish market photos all came from DA. I decided to go for a more painted look to keep the focus more on the mermaid, besides all that dead fish is just depressing enough without the details.  




Orca- So since I was focusing on doing something different with each of these pieces, I began to think that if mermaids really were a fact, well what would they look like? I mean long flowy hair isn't really logical since it would hold no purpose underwater. I was really inspired from the documentary Animal Planet had a few years ago and the story was pretty incredible. I was so excited to watch this until I realized it was fake #LifeCrushed Either way though, they made sense. I elongated her body to make it seem like it belonged with a long tail and I assume the tail would look more like other aquatic mammals and less like a fish. Her skin, not a sun kissed tan like most mermaids, instead was more like a dolphin's. The model originally had spiky short hair which I removed and opted for a bald head.





Farewell Friend- With this last one, I wanted to do one of my traditional "pretty mermaids" but I still wanted to keep it dark and different. I chose to make it about forbidden love between a fairy and a mermaid but I just couldn't find the right stock (I'll have to do a shoot soon for this one) but I realized if I was going outside of my comfort zone this week, well the love didnt have to be man/woman nor did the love have to be romantic or happy. Sometimes the strongest love we feel is when we lose a loved one. As usual with my art, I always add a small snip it of a story so the viewer can see where my mind was when I created it.




I was going for at least 4 pieces but damn, did I have trouble with the last one that I just decided to hold off until I was able get the stock I really wanted.

Im really pleased with them and I really enjoyed pushing myself like a creative assignment to make sure I did something different. The week before, I did a series "Colors of the Woods"

Ok so 2015 is here and I haven't really started it until this week. I know, its the first week of February, but I am so very behind, but I had a great first month with a vacation, so I shall be cutting slack my way. 

Im pretty happy this week though, I have been creating art almost every day so far. I feel very motivated and my creative juices are just flowing. I even went to the gym I felt so great (thats rare!)

Last month, even though it was wonderful having my mom visit from Chile, I felt a lot of negativity from someone in our artist world. I probably didn't handle it right but have you ever come across someone who just talked so aggressively towards you that no matter what you just want them to go away? Ive never come across someone like that from Deviant Art before, but its handled and now I make sure to take all precautions to avoid that, so it had a positive ending. 

Im feeling a collection called "Colors of the Forest" which will have a different Fae representing a different color . Ive Done red already and today I think I will do blue. 

I always have so much planned (Im a great and extravagant planner but a horrible doer) and this year I plan to stick with it! 

2015... you aint seen nothin' yet!
